Dear Friends of WVWC Swimming,

I would like to welcome everybody to the 2008-2009 WVWC Swimming season.  Practice has already begun.  The team is enjoying the weather and utilizing the outdoor pool at Buckhannon-Upshur High.

Coach Meuer and I are very excited about the upcoming year.  We have 12 new swimmers on campus this fall.  The women’s team has added ten new girls to the squad.  This is a blessing for the team as we had struggled the past two years with the size of the team.  The women’s team should see a significant improvement this year and we want to use that as momentum for the future.  One the men’s side, we have added the top two seniors from the state of West Virginia.  I feel good about the upcoming year and hope to see some special things. 

I do want you to mark your calendars for Saturday October 11.  This is Homecoming weekend and we will be having an alumni meet.  This is the 2nd year that we’ve had this meet since I’ve been at Wesleyan.  We had a few alums attend in 2007 and would like to see if we can have a larger turnout this year.  The meet is designed to be a fun event where Wesleyan alumni can connect with the current team members.   I hope that a lot of you will be able to come for the meet.

On the administrative side of things, our long-time Athletic Director and former swim coach, George Klebez, retired in June.  Ken Tyler has taken over as AD and I’m looking forward to working with him to improve the quality of athletics here at Wesleyan.  Please feel free to drop me a line when you can.  I like hearing from alumni and will hopefully see some of you on October 11.
