Season in Review The season started with few bodies and a big challenge to achieve great swimming success. The Bobcats had a big traveling meet schedule ahead of them and were ready for the WVU relay meet. The alumni meet over Homecoming weekend brought back a number of former swimmers who challenged the Bobcats in the water. It was a very enjoyable meet for both the current swimmers as well as alumni. The next meet on the schedule was at the beginning of November the women swam against California of Pa and Edinboro and the men swam against Edinboro. Both the men and women challenged the competition but didn’t come away with a win. Indiana of Pa was the next weekend and neither team came away with the ‘W’, but many swimmers brought back their own personal bests. Wheeling Jesuit took the trip to Buckhannon the 17th of November and the men came away with a solid win while the women came in closely behind the Cardinals by 5 points. Wesleyans invitational the weekend after Thanksgiving held in Wooster, OH. The team posted personal best times and got a taste of what Conference Championship Meet is all about. There was great motivation shown by the team after this meet. Next the team took a training trip to Florida and worked very hard to prepare for Conference. The month of January was the last full month of training before the coveted taper started for the Bobcats. Fairmont State showed great improvement from years past but their men failed to out swim the Bobcats while their women had more depth and won. The last meet of the season was at Marymount University. The Bobcats performed outstanding but struggled to come away with a win for both men and women. Travis McCan received recognition from the Conference of being swimmer of the week for January 21 and February 2 for his swimming accomplishments. Conference started February 13 and was held in Charlotte, NC. The Bobcats had 3 very hard days of swimming ahead of them and performed exceptionally well. We want to say Congratulations to the Wesleyan Swim team for a very productive and outstanding performance at this years Bluegrass Mountain Conference Meet.
